KOLKATA: The state animal resource development department has decided to create a toll-free number for ailing animals. So just dial the number or text your message to alert employees of the state animal resource development near your home.
ARD minister Nure Alam Choudhury has said that it will take a few months to get the system in place. The minister said, “This toll-free number will only be a part of the larger attempt to take care of animals who are already being looked after in several homes all over the state.
The pet-owners, with all their well-being and love for animals, are often at a loss when the animals fall sick.”
“They don’t have information on vets and veterinary hospitals. Our staff will keep kits with themselves so that the animals could be given primary treatment even before they are taken to the hospital,” he added.
He said since the new system would involve vets, hospitals specialized to treat animals and back-office staff who would be there to receive the toll-free calls, his department would need some time.
